From its origins as a home-based startup business in 1997, Perimeter eSecurity has achieved phenomenal growth and now includes more than 300 employees serving 5,000 customers worldwide. Annual revenues have soared from $500,000 to $45 million, an 8,900 percent increase.


The Internet security services firm began that growth spurt in 2001, after Connecticut Innovations invested $875,000 at a time the company employed just a dozen people and had 30 customers. That initial investment spurred others to invest over the years, culminating in a $104 million private equity deal led by financial powerhouse Goldman Sachs and Bessemer Ventures in 2007.

The success of Perimeter eSecurity has produced solid returns for Connecticut Innovations as well. “CI took a chance on this company by becoming our first investor,” said Perimeter CEO Brad Miller. “Without CI’s support in our early stages, it would have been tough to get where we are today.”
