Perfect Third, Inc. is developing a “smart alarm” cell phone application, WakeSmart™, to wake users at an optimal point in their sleep cycle. The user wears a Bluetooth wristband accessory, which gathers REMsleep data. That data is then processed using a motion-based algorithm, which in turn estimates an optimal wake-up point within a twenty-minute, user-specified wake-up window. TheWakeSmart product promises to reduce or eliminate the sleep inertia or grogginess that is often associated with the use of traditional alarm clocks.
