CONNECTICUT CLEAN ENERGY FUND ISSUES THIRD ROUND OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR “PROJECT 150”

Latest round of RFPs aims to build up to 25 megawatts of new, clean, renewable energy generation in Connecticut

Rocky Hill, CT, April 1, 2008—The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF), managed by Connecticut Innovations, Inc., released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Round 3 of “Project 150,” an initiative promoting the development and deployment of “Class I” renewable energy resources. Parties interested in participating in “Project 150” are required to complete a proposal consistent with the new RFP document and submit it to CCEF by May 30, 2008.

The “Project 150” initiative creates an opportunity for developers, manufacturers and financiers to advance Connecticut-based “Class I” clean renewable energy projects. Class I renewable projects utilize technologies such as wind, solar, fuel cells, hydro, wave power and biomass. The 2003 landmark Connecticut legislation mandates local electric distribution companies to contract a minimum of 150 MW of clean energy resources by October 1, 2008. The electric distribution companies will enter into power purchase agreements with generators of “Class I” renewable energy for no less than a 10-year period. Pricing under these contracts will include a premium of up to 5.5 cents per kWh.

“The fact that an initiative that was originally named ‘Project 100’ is now being called ‘Project 150’ is a testament the strong desire for renewable energy in our state,” said Lise Dondy, President of CCEF. “The 25 megawatts being sought in this RFP represent enough power to supply clean, renewable electricity to over 22,000 homes in Connecticut. Both the environment and Connecticut’s ratepayers will benefit from this commitment to clean energy”

Those interested in accessing the RFP should visit the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund’s website at www.ctcleanenergy.com/project150. Anyone with questions or requests for clarification may write to CCEF or e-mail their questions to info@ctcleanenergy.com.
