| Memry Corp. Selects Assured Automation as Exclusive North American Distributor of Firechek"· Fire-Safety Valves |
Bethel, CT, October 8, 2004 ¡V Memry Corporation (AMEX: MRY) announced today that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Assured Automation for distribution of its specialized Firechek"· valves throughout North America. Assured Automation, of Clark, NJ, is a leading supplier of automated valves and accessory equipment to the industrial, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries. The renewable agreement is for a term of three years.
James G. Binch, chief executive officer of Memry Corporation, said, ¡§This new distribution agreement with Assured Automation significantly enhances our ability to reach new customers with our Firechek heat-activated pneumatic shut-off valve. Using our proprietary Nitinol shape memory alloy technology, the Firechek valve responds to heat in cases of fire emergency making it invaluable in closing pneumatically operated gas cylinder and process line valves for handling toxic and flammable gases and liquids in chemical, petrochemical, refining and semiconductor industries. The agreement also allows Memry to focus our sales and marketing effort to better serve the medical device market.¡¨
