STTR AWARD - $70,000 - Congresswoman Nancy Johnson provides support.
August 3, 2005 8-3-05 - Congresswoman Nancy Johnson offers support to Len Discenza, President of DBA, and SBIR Program Director Deb Santy, while attending a technology session held at the headquarters of Design By Analysis (DBA) in New Britain, Connecticut.
The U.S. Navy, through the STTR Program, has awarded $70,000 to DBA to work with the University of Connecticut’s Global Fuel Cell Center to develop the feasibility of a hybrid-powered, underwater torpedo system.
This proposed technology promises a new generation of undersea weaponry with increased stealth search range, higher reliability, and easier maintenance than current closed-system, thermal engine torpedoes.
Design By Analysis is located at the Central Connecticut State University's (CCSU) Institute for Technology and Business Development (ITBD), manged by Rick Mullins. The incubator helps companies accelerate from start up to viable enterprises. Additionally, New Britain offers tax incentives to these companies
AVALENCE LLC WINS PHASE 2 SBIR DOE AWARD $750,000 - June 29, 2005
In July 2004 Avalence LLC won a Phase I SBIR Award to prove the feasibility of developing a proprietary process to produce ultra-high pressure hydrogen gas (10,000 psi) WITHOUT using a compressor.
About a year later, in June 2005 they were awarded a Phase 2 SBIR to work on a prototype and accelerate the production, promotion and sales of low-cost hydrogen generation appliance lines for hydrogen fuel for fuel cell vehicles (automotive and marine) and home power devices for the average consumer.
Avalence has partnered with AC Transit to operate a photovoltaic powered, hydrogen fueling station in a real world situation that
will yeild a tremendous amount of field data critical to refining the station operation and reducing the cost of manufacture, maintenance and operation.
Avalence LLC produces emmision-free, reliable and cost-efficient hydrogen-generating equipment for consumer, commercial and industrial use. Deborah Moss is the CEO. Tom Jackson is President. Marty Shimko is VP Business Development.
We succeed when you succeed.
