The photonics community in Connecticut includes industry-leading companies such as JDS Uniphase, Trumpf, and two former CI portfolio companies – Coherent DEOS and Nufern. These companies have created the basis of a strong infrastructure of engineering talent in this field – one that is further strengthened by talent being cultivated at the Photonics Lab at the University of Connecticut.
